About the name...

About the name...
Our friend Clifford suggested "Crested Oak" when we asked him what we might name the cabin. It has to do with some oak trees grouped together on the property.
If it weren't for Clifford locating our well we may not have built at all. We thought it was fitting to use the name he recommended.

More landscaping.

New upper retaining wall.

Upper and lower retaining walls.  New drainage box collects in the middle and sends water
out the side into the woods. Driveway widened about 5 feet to allow for better garage access.

Front bank cleaned up, mulched, and looking a bit bare.  We'll plant new trees and ground cover in the spring.

November 17, 2011. Excavating and tree removal.

We are using Mike Williams Tree Service.  He cleared our land initially.  He is recommended by Service Magic and they vet all businesses for proper insurance and expertise.  Additionally, Mike has received certification from the town of Lake Lure in tree removal and land management.

Mess left by electric company, when pole placed.

Hill before clearing work began.

Many trees cut down were dead or hollow and dying.

Most trees chipped for use as mulch.

Oops!  Caught a limb on the way down.
