About the name...

About the name...
Our friend Clifford suggested "Crested Oak" when we asked him what we might name the cabin. It has to do with some oak trees grouped together on the property.
If it weren't for Clifford locating our well we may not have built at all. We thought it was fitting to use the name he recommended.

November 12, 2011. Insulation complete, drywall is next.

We contacted several companies for the spray foam, but chose Allied Insulation out of Asheville.     They were very thorough and professional and did a great job.  We can't wait to see how well the product works for us when it's really cold or really hot.

We chose fiberglass for the exterior doors.

Most of the pictures are upstairs.  The solid log walls don't have insulation.

The spray foam is 'open cell' and you can poke holes in it with your finger.

They have trimmed it flat, where the drywall will be placed.

Fluffy spray in between the rafter looks like meringue.

The basement got the regular batt insulation.

Unfinished side of basement.

The garage side.  It will be dry walled to code for exhaust fumes.
