About the name...

About the name...
Our friend Clifford suggested "Crested Oak" when we asked him what we might name the cabin. It has to do with some oak trees grouped together on the property.
If it weren't for Clifford locating our well we may not have built at all. We thought it was fitting to use the name he recommended.

August 3, 2011. Randy updates us from the air.

Looks like our power lines, transformer, and pole are in place.

July 28, 2011. Log Delivery.

Two tractor trailers brought our logs from the Southland factory in Irmo, S.C.
They had no chance of getting up the road to the cabin, so everything was dropped off across the road from Clifford and Juanita's house on some property they own.
Bob moves it from there to the property.  It's about 2 miles and 1.5 of that is a winding dirt road.

July 5-15 2011. Our first camping trip to Lake Lure

Chilling out at our campsite we nick named "The Bunker", due to the rock walls around our camper.

Changing the bed is a pain... best to let the expert do it.

Happy Hour!

Who's the Redneck?!

July-August 2011. Subfloor and Excavation.

The 'front' of the house is the porch side.
We wanted to be able to pull up easily to unload.

Our future retaining wall.

This is the 'back' side, where the deck will be.
